James Gunn reveals first story details for DC’s CREATURE COMMANDOS animated series

James Gunn has shared the first details on the story of the next animated series from DC Studios Commando of creaturesand what I didn’t expect is that it’s a direct continuation of Peacemaker.

Gunn talked about the series during the Commando of creatures‘ Panel of the Annecy Animation Festival via a video message from the set of Supermanand revealed how Pacifier Season 1 e Commando of creatures they are connected.

Gunn shared, “The new series picks up directly after the Season 1 finale of Peacemaker, which leaves Waller with her hands tied operationally, meaning she’s no longer able to get away with putting lives on the line to carry out his morally questionable clandestine missions. Instead, he recruits a misfit band of misfits, not unlike the Suicide Squad and Peacemaker.

The director went on to say that Commando of creatures The roster is made up of “real literal monsters and I can’t wait for you to meet them. Creating this series has been one of the absolute joys of my life.

The team consists of a human, a werewolf, a vampire, Frankenstein’s monster and a gorgon. Gunn previously said he believes this series is “some of the best stuff he’s ever written.”

It was previously explained that the project’s story is so big that the only way to tell it is through animation because it would be too expensive to make for live-action.

Many of these characters will also “play live-action roles later in the DCU,” and it was recently confirmed that some of these characters will appear in Superman.

The voice cast includes Davide Porto as Eric Frankenstein, Sean Gunn as Weasel and GI Robot, Franco Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Maria Bakalova in the role of Princess Ilana Rostovic, Indira Varma in the role of the Bride, Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorus, with Steve Agee reprising his role as John Economos from Peacemaker.

Commando of creatures will premiere on Max in December 2024.
