Action-packed clip from BORDERLANDS featuring Lilith kicking Cate Blanchett’s ass

Lionsgate has released the first action-packed clip of Eli Roththe upcoming film adaptation of the hit Borderlands.

The clip starts with Black JackClaptrap shooting a bunch of bullets and then things turn into full action, and we get to see Cate Blanchett kick some ass as Lilith.

In the film, “Lilith, a notorious outlaw with a mysterious past, reluctantly returns to her home planet of Pandora to find the missing daughter of the most powerful son of a bitch in the universe, Atlas (Ramirez).

“Lilith forms an alliance with an unexpected team: Roland (Hart), a former elite mercenary, now desperate for redemption; Tiny Tina, a ferocious pre-teen wrecker; Krieg, Tina’s muscular and rhetorically challenged protector; Tannis, the scientist with a tenuous hold on sanity; and Claptrap, a persistently wise robot.

“These unlikely heroes must battle alien monsters and dangerous bandits to find and protect the missing girl, who may hold the key to unimaginable power. The fate of the universe may be in their hands, but they will fight for something more: for each other.”

The film is also the protagonist Jamie Lee Curtis as Tannis, Kevin Hart like Rolando, Ariana Greenblatt as Tiny Tina, and Florian Munteanu like Krieg.

Speaking previously about the tone of the film, Roth said: “It’s bananas. I really wanted to keep the spirit of the film in the spirit of the games. Randy Pitchford, the creator, was there with me every step of the way.

“If I had my idea for a joke that wasn’t Borderlands canon, he’d say, ‘Oh, that’s cool. Claptrap would absolutely do that.” For all the character stuff I wanted them to do, I was like, ‘Okay, would Lilith do something like that?’ Or, “Is this a Tiny Tina move?” He says, “That’s cool. We should do that in the game.”

“So yes, the movie is fun. It’s wild. It was a huge, huge undertaking, especially during Covid. People are going to have to wait a little longer for that, but I’m really, really excited about it.”

Borderlands will be released in theaters on August 9, 2024.
