This week’s retro trailer is for the 1984 action comedy Tankwhat stars James Garner as Sergeant Major Zack Carey, a seasoned military officer stationed at a U.S. Army base in a small Southern town.
In the film, when Carey arrives with his wife and son, he brings with him his most prized possession, a vintage Sherman tank. Conflict arises when his teenage son, Billy, played by C. Thomas Howell, clashes with the corrupt local sheriff, Cyrus Buelton, played by GD Spradlin.
The sheriff unfairly arrests and mistreats Billy, prompting Carey to take matters into her own hands. Using his tank, Carey embarks on a one-man mission to save his son and challenge the city’s corrupt authorities.
As Carey races through the city in his tank, he becomes an unlikely hero, earning the support of the local community and bringing justice to corrupt officials.
