Tom Hardy Talks VENOM: THE LAST DANCE and Says ‘Spider-Man Went to Feige’s Camp’ But ‘We’ve Got One at Sony’

Venom: The Last Dance star Tom Hardy recently talked about his next film and the franchise as a whole. One interesting thing he mentioned was Marvel Studios’ involvement in the Spider-Man franchise.

During a recent interview with Forbes, Hardy shared his excitement for the next Venom film, which will be marketed as the final solo Venom film.

Hardy said: “This – I’m so, so excited because we’ve gotten so much bigger. Kelly [Marcel] and I worked with Tom Rothman and Sanford [Panitch] and their Sony team for 7-8 years now.

“We started – initially, [Venom] there was only Eddie Brock and no one knew what we were going to do. Then the second [film, Venom: Let There Be Carnage] – we wrote the second one, presented it, directed it, put the team together – it was great! That was a huge university of learning.

The actor went on to explain how the films were watched, especially since Spider-Man wasn’t involved.

Hardy continued: “People would judge us, you know? The Marvel Universe underneath [Kevin] Feige’s the management is going so well. Spider-Man went to Feige’s camp at Marvel. We have one [at Sony]! For Kelly and I, it’s so important to put everything we can into this opportunity.

“So on the third now, Kelly is directing it, he’s writing – I’m attached at the hip and shoulder, like whatever you need, we’ll figure it out.”

I assume the “one” Hardy talks about for Sony is in reference to Spider-Man. So, who is this version of Spider-Man he’s talking about? Fans are speculating that he is Andrew Garfield’s version.

One thing that has been quite clear is this Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has no place in Sony’s Spider-Man universe, so if they introduce Spider-Man it would have to be a version that Marvel Studios has no control over.

Or is Hardy implying that Venom is the Spider-Man of the SSU? I don’t know, we’ll have to wait and see what Sony continues to do with this franchise, which it continues to lose ground on.
