Jonathan Frakes doesn’t give up on his STAR TREK: LEGACY project

Star Trek veteran Jonathan Frakes keep talking about the proposal Star Trek: Picard spin-off series Star Trek: The Legacyand it is obviously a project he will not give up on.

The project was initially launched by Picard showrunner Terry Matalesand was conceived as a continuation of The next generation and set after the events of Picard. It’s a project that Frake is also heavily involved in because it’s a Star Wars project that he’s pushing for and hopes will happen.

Frake recently spoke about the project during an interview with IndieWire, saying, “I certainly have hopes and thoughts. Updates? I don’t have them, but I know the franchise is in great shape.

“I know that this ‘Starfleet Academy’ series is going to be completely different, and I think the success of what I’m imagining, the success of ‘Section 31,’ the Michelle Yeoh movie, will only catapult us further into the future, and my hope, of course, is that we will find a place to continue the story of ‘Legacy’.”

Frakes previously shared his idea of what William Riker’s role would be in the series. He sees Riker taking on a similar role to Charlie in the Charlie’s Angels series.

He explained, “The Rikers’ marriage is back on track. In my mind, for the show to go forward, Riker would have to be a captain and have his own ship, or he would be promoted to admiral and act as a liaison.” .

“I’m only half joking when I say it would be great for me if the show continued and I was like Charlie from Charlie’s Angels. They’re supposed to come to my office one day a week for a meeting with Riker. It would be perfect.

“Then I could direct a bunch of episodes and be on the show. I suspect if it went forward, it would be Jeri Ryan, Michelle Hurd and Ed Speleers, who are now in Starfleet, and Mica Burton and Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut, who played Geordi’s daughter.

“I guess Lulu Wilson, who played the Rikers’ daughter in Season 1 and was so fabulous, could be a part of it too. She could come back and maybe be in Starfleet.”

He continued, “It seems to me that there’s a real opportunity for three of the children of the legacy characters to go on and kind of become the next Star Trek: The Next Generation. It just feels like everything’s in place. It’s the blueprint for the next phase.”

Speaking previously about the possibility of the show getting made, Frakes said of Paramount: “I think they can’t deny not only the fan reaction, but the fact that the numbers put the show in the Top 10 of the streaming charts.

“And that season of Star Trek: Picard was hands down among the best seasons of any Star Trek – I think we can all agree on that. I mean, Star Trek fans are loyal. It’s not millions and millions of people, and it’s not the youngest fandom in the world…”

Frakes went on to say he has no doubts about this Star Trek: The Legacy will get made one day, saying, “I’m an eternal optimist and I believe in a perfect world, they’ll find the resources and the energy and they’ll hire Terry to put this Legacy show together and that, in fact, it will come to fruition.” .”

Confidently, Star Trek: The Legacy gets the green light one day! It’s a series that many Star Trek fans have expressed interest in seeing.
