Jeremy Renner Yelled at MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE Director Christopher McQuarrie After Learning of Plans to Kill His Character

Jeremy Renner talked about his time in the Mission Impossible franchise, denying that he would take the place Tom Cruiseand he also recently shared why he actually refused to return Mission: Impossible: Fallout.

It turns out that Renner was asked to return Mission: Impossible – Fallout…so that director Christopher McQuarrie he could have killed off Renner’s character, Brandt, and as you can imagine Renner wasn’t happy about it.

Renner shared the following in a recent interview with the Happy Sad Confused Podcast: “I remember they tried to bring me here for a week so they could kill off my character, and I was like, ‘No, you can’t do that. over there and you’ll just kill my character, “get out of here!”

The actor went on to say, “If you’re going to do this and use my character, you’re going to do it right.”

Renner said he even scolded McQuarrie for this, saying, “I scolded [director Christopher McQuarrie]. Man, you won’t do this to me like that; You won’t hurt me.”

It was eventually revealed that Brandt had retired from field work and was heading to the Mission: Impossible: Showdown sequel, it’s unlikely Renner will reprise the role there.

I mean, McQuarrie wanted to kill Brandt because they didn’t want to deal with the character anymore. Ultimately they will continue to make mistakes with Renner.

Renner also denied in the interview the rumor that he would be a candidate to take over the franchise from Ethan Hunt actor Tom Cruise. But, before McQuarrie was called to work on the screenplay of Ghost Protocolthis is what it looked like.

Regardless of the actor clashing with the director over plans to kill off his character, Renner is open to returning for another Mission: Impossible film.

“He said: I should have done more with them. I love those boys. I love Tom so much. We had so much fun and I love that character so much. It requires a lot of time away. It’s all in London. I had to be a dad. Then it wouldn’t have worked .”

“Maybe now that my daughter is older it could happen. I would always want to get into ‘Mission: Impossible’ at any time and go back to Brandt. It’s amazing.”

We’ll just have to wait and see if anything ever happens with Brandt.
