This was reported yesterday Deadpool and Wolverine director Shawn Levy is in talks to direct the next one Avengers film for Marvel Studios.
I wanted to highlight some interesting information included in that report and talk about it a little. It involves the number of MCU characters that will be included in the story.
The report states: “Marvel has been working hard over the past few months to put this together so that filming can begin next year on one of Marvel’s biggest productions to date.”
They go on to reveal that more than “60 MCU characters could reprise their roles, including all of the Marco Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth AND Benedict Cumberbatch TO Tom Hiddleston, Simu Liu AND Karen Gillian.”
It is explained that “many of the characters in this film would have equal footing, making it more of an ensemble film rather than a handful of characters leading the team.”
Over 60 MCU characters, many of whom would have equal footing!? It’s a crazy challenge to take on. It looks like it will be incredibly difficult to pull this off effectively. There are a lot of characters to juggle!
60 characters reprising their roles also means that almost every main character and co-character we’ve seen in the MCU could end up appearing in the film.
While we don’t have any story details to share, there have been many rumors circulating online. One of the most recent rumors concerns five key characters who will be included in the story.
Those characters are said to be Anthony MackieHe’s Captain America, Tom HollandSpiderman, Oscar Isaacthe Knight of the Moon, Marco Ruffaloit’s the Hulk and Tatiana MaslanIt’s She-Hulk.
While these characters could very well appear in the film, we don’t know if they will actually be the main characters of the story.
One thing we know for sure is that Kang will most likely no longer be the evil villain Marvel was hoping to create, unless they decide to recast the character to play one of his variations.
The creator of Marvel Loki series, Michele Waldronwas hired to write this new film, the script of which was handed to Levy to see if it was something he would want to undertake.
