The Incredible Hulk‘S Tim Blake Nelson is set to return to the MCU with The Leader in the next Marvel Studios film Captain America: Brave New World. The question is: what has the Leader been doing for the last sixteen years?
Nelson confirmed this New world will answer this question. The actor shared in an interview with Screen Rant that Marvel “came up with a really interesting explanation” for what The Leader has been doing since The Incredible Hulk.
He said: “Very excited. Tomorrow I’m going to Atlanta to continue working on it. It was very exciting to bring back a character from 16 years ago and imagine how he aged with me and how that manifested.
He continued: “The Marvel team has come up with a really interesting explanation: a revelation, I should say, about what they’ve been doing for 16 years and why.”
It will be interesting to see what that turns out to be. It’s not hard to imagine that she worked secretly for the US government. This may explain how President Ross ends up becoming Red Hulk.
The film is directed by Giulio Onah, who previously spoke about the film, saying it will be the biggest test of Sam Wilson’s life: “It’s really his debut show. It’s about putting it to the test.
The director went on to talk about Wilson’s relationship with the American government, saying, “Part of the challenge for Sam as Captain America, working within the government, is how he’s going to make decisions. The point of view that he will have will sometimes put him at odds with the President.”
He also talked about Wilson being at odds with Nelson’s Samuel Sterns, aka The Leader: “Sam almost finds himself caught between Samuel Sterns and what he thinks the government owes him, and how he wants to go about getting it.”
The film is also the protagonist Liv Tyler, Shira Haas, Tim Blake Nelson, Rosa Salazar, Danny RamirezAND Carl Lumbly.
The film’s screenplay was written by Dalan Musson AND Malcolm Spellmanboth of whom they wrote for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Spellman will produce with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.
