Mark Hamill plays Mike Flanagan’s “favorite acting” in his upcoming film THE LIFE OF CHUCK

Director Mike Flanagan (Doctor Sleep, Midnight Mass) collaborated again with Mark Hamill (The Fall of House Usher) for his next film project, an adaptation of Stephen King’S The Life of Chuck

According to the director, Hamill could deliver one of the best performances of his career. During a recent panel at the ATX festival in Austin, Flanagan was asked if he had ever written monologues on his project that he had to cut, and he admitted that he had.

He explained, “Mostly, with the writing, it’s my fault.” She went on to say that she realizes that she needs to cut them while she’s editing because it just isn’t working and she wants to keep the flow of the story going.

But he went on to reveal that Mark Hamill delivers a four and a half minute monologue The Life of Chuckand it will not be cut. He even said it’s his favorite Hamill acting.

Flanagan said: “I made a movie last fall that I’m very proud of, it has a really bizarre monologue performed by Mark Hamill. It’s my favorite piece of acting I’ve ever seen from Mark Hamill, it’s four and a half minutes. It’s just… yes!”

So I can’t wait to see it! The director said there was also a seven-minute monologue by another actor that he cut from the film.

He recalled: “I had to call the actor and tell him ‘I’m sorry, you did right, I did wrong. I wrote a scene that said a lot of things out loud that I shouldn’t have said out loud because it would have been all there, and it was all there without words.'”

The film is based on the short story from King’s 2020 anthology If it bleeds“The Life of Chuck consists of three separate stories linked to tell the biography of Charles Krantz in reverse, beginning with his death from a brain tumor at age 39 and ending with his childhood in a supposedly haunted house. “

According to the production, the project will draw inspiration from a tonal point of view Stand by Me, The Shawshank Redemption AND The green mile.

Karen Gillanone of the film’s stars, saw a rough cut of it and previously said it made her “cry for days.”

The actress explained: “You know what, he didn’t seem that different. I was thinking, ‘OK, how has he changed? He’s done so many movies.’

“[It] I felt the same! We were back in Alabama as if we had never left. If there was any difference, I just assume he felt more… I mean, he was relaxed the first time, but maybe he wasn’t, he was just pretending to be relaxed.

“But no, it was just the same Mike Flanagan, brilliant and the film is absolutely incredible. I saw an unfinished version of it and literally didn’t stop crying for days. In a good way.”

David Dastmalchian said of the film: “It’s beautiful. You think, ‘Oh, Mike Flanagan, Stephen King, this thing is just going to be the most horrible, terrifying thing you’ve ever seen.’ [But] it’s so beautifully rendered, heartfelt, the drama, the performances,” he said Late night with the devil star Dastmalchian in a new interview with Gizmodo.

He continued: “The cast in this film is deep. [Matthew] Lillard has a moment in this movie that breaks my heart. Karen Gillan, another one who I think treads that incredible ski slope between her small independent art films and then the big studio budget stuff. One of the best actors in Hollywood right now. Kate Siegel, I mean, that’s it [many] Great people! Ah, what a joy.”

The film is also the protagonist Tom Hiddleston, Marco Hamill, Chiwetel Ejiofor (Doctor Strange), AND Jacob Tremblay (Doctor Sleep), as well as My Sara, Matthew Lillard, Beatitude of the Trinity, Harvey Guillen, Rahul Kohli, David DastmalchianAND Heather Langenkamp.

I’m excited to watch this movie!
