This past Memorial Day weekend was dismal at the box office and I’m so confused by what is happening! Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga AND The Garfield Movie almost tied at the box office with Furious almost beating Garfield.
Furious ended up making $32 million over the Memorial Day holiday on Monday and Garfield it ended up at $31.1. These are extremely low numbers, and this is the worst Memorial Day weekend for movies in nearly three decades, excluding 2020, when theaters were completely closed due to COVID.
With all the hype surrounding it George Miller’S Furious, I thought this was going to be a sure-fire summer hit! But instead, it ended up disappointing big time, and it’s very frustrating why Furious it was a damn great movie!
Indeed, Furious it’s even better than Mad Max: Road Furyand I loved it to death Way of Fury! It was an action movie masterpiece! Why in the world didn’t people go see this movie in theaters!?
This is one of the few franchises where the films get better and better every time a new one is released, and with numbers like this, who knows if Miller will ever make another one?
Furiosa was expected to make $40 to $45 million over the long holiday weekend, which is about what Fury Road brought in. I should also point out that the film had a budget of $168 million.
I just can’t wrap my head around this fact Godzilla x Kong: A New Empirewhich was a shitty movie, made $80 million in its opening weekend and Furiousa far superior film in every way, it makes $32 million!?
This is why movie fans can’t have nice things. When something good comes out in theaters, people don’t go to see it. Seeing box office numbers this low on Memorial Day weekend is concerning, and it’s a big deal. Now studios will reevaluate their projects and release even more mediocre films.
If you haven’t watched Furious and yet… GO WATCH IT IN THE CINEMAS! You won’t be disappointed!
