The Munsters is getting another reboot, but this time it’s coming from the manufacturer James Wan (Insidious, The Summoning).

The project is titled 1313and is described as “a horror series that plays on the Universal Monsterverse, which is a darker reimagining of the classic 1964 sitcom The Munsters.”

Lindsey Anderson Beer (Pet Seminar: Bloodlines) will be the showrunner of the series. UCP’s Ingrid Bisu also serves as co-executive producer.

There have been a couple of reboot attempts over the years The Munsters. One came from NBC and Universal and was written by Bryan Fuller.

That project was titled Mockingbird Alleyand directed by Bryan Singer and acted Jerry O’Connell as Herman Munster, Portia de Rossi as his wife Lily, Eddie Izzard like grandfather, and Charity Wakefield like cousin Marilyn. That pilot aired as a Halloween special in 2012.

Then in 2017, Weird mom out Creator Jill Kargman AND Seth Meyers were developing a series that would follow members of the offbeat Munsters family determined to stay true to themselves but struggling to fit in in hipster Brooklyn.

The most recent reboot of The Munsters coming from Rob Zombieand that movie didn’t seem to go over well with fans.

In the meantime, I’m curious to see what these new features will be Munster it ends up being a series, people just need to stop trying to reboot it. Obviously it doesn’t work and nothing will ever live up to what the original series gave us.

If you want to revisit the original series, The Munsters is currently streaming on Peacock.
