The KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS series lands with BLACK MIRROR director Owen Harris

HBO hired a director to take on the task game of Thrones spin-off series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Knight Errant.

Black mirror director Owen Harris will direct three of the series’ six episodes game of Thrones spin-off, based on George R.R. Martin Tales of Dunk and Egg.

The series follows the character Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire, Egg. Peter Claffey (Bad sisters) was cast as Dunk, while Dexter Sol Ansell (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes) was chosen as Egg.

The series is set a century before the events of game of Thrones“two unlikely heroes roamed Westeros… a young, naive but brave knight, Ser Duncan the Tall (Claffey), and his diminutive squire, Egg (Ansell).”

Set in a time “when the Targaryen lineage still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful enemies and dangerous deeds await these unlikely and incomparable friends.”

Martin and Ira Parker are writers and executive producers of the new series. Martin has published three novellas to date in the “Tales of Dunk and Egg” series.

Those include The Errant Knight (1998), The sworn sword (2003) e The mysterious knight (2010). A collection of the three novellas, with illustrations by Gary Gianniwas published as A knight of the seven kingdoms in 2015.

This is the second prequel series chosen by Max, after last year’s House of the Dragon. It is scheduled to air at the end of 2025.

The series is written and executive produced by Martin and Ira Parker. Executive producers include Ryan Condal, Vincenzo Gerardis, Owen HarrisAND Sarah Bradshaw.
