Kevin Costner spent million of his own money on his epic western HORIZON: AN AMERICAN SAGA

Kevin Costner revealed in a recent interview with GQ magazine that reports claim he would spend $20 million of his own money to co-finance his new western epic Horizon: An American Saga they are not true.

It turns out that he actually spent a lot more money making his passion project happen. She confirmed that she spent $38 million of his personal money!

Costner said, “I know they say I put $20 million of my own money into this movie. It is not true. Now I have about $38 million in the film. It is the truth. This is the real number.

The western saga will include four films, the first two of which were shot back to back. Costner is not in pre-production on the third film, but neither of the final two installments is fully financed yet. This doesn’t seem to worry Costner, however.

He said: “They will happen anyway, but they are not already funded. I took my suitcase down the street, you know, and I saw: where are all you rich, brave billionaires? If I hear the word billionaire one more time, I think I’m going to throw up.”

Speaking about the type of financiers he is looking for, Costner said: “I need someone who is impulsive, emotional, has money and wants to go West. And it’s like: Now let’s see how much of a gambler you are. Because everything I have is in the film.”

I would be the perfect investor for Costner… if I had the money share!

Horizon: An American Saga chronicles “a multifaceted 15-year arc of expansion and settlement of the American West before and after the Civil War. Experienced through the eyes of many, the epic journey is filled with danger and intrigue, from the constant assault of the natural elements to interactions with the indigenous people who lived on the land and the determination and, in many cases, ruthlessness of those who sought to colonize it. .”

Costner had already spoken about the story saying: “It’s a really beautiful story; it’s a difficult story. It really involves a lot of women, to be honest. There are a lot of men too, but the women are really strong in Horizon.

“It’s just them trying to survive every day in a world that was incredibly harsh. They often were [dragged] in these places because that is where men wanted to go; women followed their men.

“They didn’t ask to be in these unstable and dangerous territories, and life wasn’t easy. I chose to make sure it was really obvious, that it wasn’t easy and how vulnerable people were.

The film also has a great cast that includes Siena Miller, Sam Worthington, Jamie Campbell Bower, Luke Wilson, Thomas Haden Church, Jena Malone, Michael Rocker, Alessandro Edda, Will Patton,AND Tatanka means.

The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last week and was greeted with a 7 minute standing ovation because I guess that’s how films are judged at Cannes.

When asked during a press conference in Cannes about his struggle to finance the film, Costner responded by saying, “I don’t know why it was so difficult.”

“You’ve seen the movie. I don’t know why it was so difficult to convince people to believe in the film I wanted to make,” she added. “You know, I don’t think my movie is better than anyone else’s, but I don’t think anyone else’s movie is better than mine. I don’t go out into the world with something I don’t think is good.

The first two films will have a double theatrical release. The first film will be released on June 28, 2024, while the second will debut a couple of months later on August 16, 2024.
