Kevin Costner offered a little more insight into what’s going on Yellowstoneand why there was so much drama surrounding his involvement and commitment to the series.
As you know, there was a major contract dispute, which ultimately led to Costner being fired from the series, and while reports have placed the blame on Costner, the actor has a very different story of what happened and has called the producers and reported. about the “untruthful” behind-the-scenes drama.
Costner explained: “Well, I haven’t felt good about it in the last year, with the way they’ve been talking about it. He wasn’t truthful. So now I’m talking a little bit about what the real truth was.”
The actor went on to say that the problem he had with the whole thing was how the producers at Paramount and Yellowstone kept changing their plans for the show and its ending.
He explained: “I made a contract for seasons five, six and seven. In February, after a two or three month negotiation, they made another contract.”
He added: “They wanted to do it again, and instead of seasons six and seven, there were 5A and 5B, and maybe we’ll do six. They were unable to make them happen.
Costner continued, “Horizon it was located in the middle, but Yellowstone it was the first position. I adapt [Horizon] in the empty spaces. They just kept filling in their gaps.”
So, all these problems and controversies were due to mismanagement by the studio and producers. Costner was obviously willing to come back and finish things, but everyone else kept making it difficult.
Costner previously said he was trying to finalize plans for his return, and spoke of his hope to return, saying, “I would love to be able to do it but we haven’t been able to do it.”
He continued: “I thought I was going to do seven [seasons] but now it’s five o’clock. So how does that work – I hope so – but they have a lot of different shows going on. Maybe he will. Maybe this will come back to me. If it does and I feel really comfortable [it]I’d like to do it.
It was previously reported that Costner wanted to reduce his time on set to work on his next film franchise Horizonwhose first chapter will be released in June.
In September, he threatened to sue the producers for lost wages following his release from the series, saying: “I couldn’t help them anymore. We tried to negotiate, they offered me less money than in previous seasons, there were problems with creativity.”
I hope Costner returns, ending the series without him seems like a foolish decision, especially since the producers went it alone.
