We’ve had some great Spider-Man movies over the years, since Tobey Maguire movie, a Andrea Garfieldto our current Marvel Peter Parker, Tom Hollandwe saw solid storytelling.
The animated Spider-Verse The movies following Miles Morales were also great. But Sony’s Spider-Man expanded universe films left something to be desired.
The most voted in the category were i Poison movies, but while they’re entertaining, they’re not the top-notch movie experience we’d like to have.
The last two films, Morbius AND Mrs. Webhave become some of the worst superhero movies of all time! Kraven the Hunter AND Venom: The Last Dance both are on the way and will hopefully be an improvement, but either way, another project is tentatively in the works, if the rumors are true.
According to Scoper @MyTimeToShineH (via ComicBook), a Spider Gwen the live-action film is in the early stages of development at the studio. We have nothing else to work with, but if Spider-Man is going to be off-limits because he’s in the MCU, she’s easily the best possible choice of character to focus on.
One could argue that the live-action Miles Morales should be a higher priority, but it has been widely reported that he will appear in Spider-Man 4setting the stage for the MCU to focus on two Spider-Men in the next trilogy.
Spider-Gwen first appeared in Edge of Spider-Verse #2 in 2014. Created by the writer Jason Latour and artist Robbi Rodriguezthis Gwen Stacy is from an alternate universe where Gwen Stacy was bitten by a radioactive spider instead of Peter Parker.
In his reality, Peter Parker becomes the Lizard after injecting himself with a serum and Gwen is forced to face and defeat him as Spider-Woman. This tragic event weighs heavily on Gwen’s conscience, shaping her motivations and superhero actions.
What do you think of this project? We’ll let you know more as it develops.
