NBC has officially renewed the revival of the courtroom sitcom Night court for a third season. The series is led by Melissa Rauchwho is also an executive producer, along with the star of the original series John Larroquette.
The delay in the renewal was due to the second and fourth negotiations between NBC and the production studio Warner Bros. on how many episodes the third season would consist of and in the end they ended up with 18 episodes.
I personally haven’t watched this new Night Court series yet, but I’ve heard it’s good. Ratings are obviously strong if the network is working to keep it alive.
In Night Court, “the eternally optimistic Abby Stone (Rauch) follows in the footsteps of her revered late father, Judge Harry Stone, as she takes on the challenge of supervising the night shift of a Manhattan courthouse.
“Abby always sees the best in people and her passion for justice is undeniable. In her quest to restore order and dignity to the court and reign among her colorful group of oddball hers, she enlists former Night Court District Attorney Dan Fielding (Larroquette) as the court’s public defender.
Night Court has established itself as NBC’s flagship comedy series, ranking as the #1 comedy. 1 in primetime on the network in both total viewers and the 18-49 demo. According to NBC, season two has reached 24 million total viewers across linear and digital platforms to date.
