With X-Men ’97 seeing a lot of success and receiving a lot of praise from the audience, fans would love to see Spider-Man: The Animated Series also revived.
The Spider-Man show ran from 1994 to 1998 and the superhero was voiced Christopher Daniels Barnes. The showrunner of that show, John Semper Jr.he previously said he wants to Spider-Man ’94 rebirth.
When previously asked if he was interested in resurrecting the show, he said: “All they have to do is call me. I’m here and I would definitely consider doing it.”
That comment sparked a fire among fans who tagged Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige to make this happen. Barnes has now responded to this fan support onwards X.
The voice actor said: “Hello everyone! I just wanted to say thank you for all the positivity and support surrounding the idea of a Spider-Man 98 rebirth! Of course I would like to participate in such a fantastic undertaking!”
He added: “Unfortunately I have not been contacted by anyone regarding this possibility and also currently have no connection with X-Men 97 show 😕.”
Barnes concluded: “But hey, let’s remember Stan Lee and remain ‘true believers’! Maybe I’ll get that magic phone call, have to sign an NDA, and then stay strangely silent on the matter! Let’s hope!!!🤞🏻”
Speaking previously about how much the ’90s Spider-Man series is beloved by fans, Semper Jr. said, “Well, it’s spectacular. I’m, right now, very happy to be myself.” [Laughs]. I get wonderful feedback from fans. Almost every other day I get an email or letter out of the blue from someone explaining what the series meant to them.”
He added: “I always hoped that the show would have longevity and impact across the board, and that people would appreciate the kind of drama that we brought. It was about threading that needle to appeal to the fans, the older people, and introducing Spider-Man to a new generation of kids who were completely unfamiliar with him.”
I have no doubt that a Spider-Man ’94 series would be a huge hit with fans, and I hope Marvel does something with it! There have been rumors of an animated shared universe, but we’ll just have to wait and see!
