KINGDOM OF THE PLANET OF THE APES Theatrical release will include a non-CGI copy of the film

While we wait Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes coming out on the big screen, the director of the film, Wes Ballis already revealing its plans for home entertainment release.

In an interview with Ape Nation, The Ball revealed that the film’s Blu-ray will contain a copy of the entire film without any CGI. This will give fans the chance to see the actors’ performances in the pre-VFX mo-cap suits.

The director revealed: “I’m doing a little thing for the DVD where you can watch the movie – the whole movie – with the raw dailies.”

He said: “I’m working on it, where you can watch and see both finals [cut] and crude newspapers. You can see how close they get, what they do, and how they tie it all together. It’s amazing and you can just sit there and enjoy it.

Ball added: “I will make some comments on that with Erik [Winquist]our visual effects [supervisor]. I think it’s going to be great. For geeks like us, it will be the first time. They’ve never seen this kind of thing.”

Ball continued: “One of the hardest things in VFX is how to get CG characters to interact with each other. So we have a human girl hugging a CG monkey and it’s like, ‘How do you do that?'”

I love that the director is doing this! I always thought it would be cool to watch a complete movie like this without all the visual effects work so you could see the actors do their thing and Ball is doing that! It’s so cool!

The film is set “several generations into the future following Caesar’s reign, where apes are the dominant species and live in harmony and humans are reduced to living in the shadows.

“As a tyrannical new ape leader builds his empire, a young ape embarks on a harrowing journey that will lead him to question everything he knows about the past and make choices that will define a future for both apes and humans.”

The cast includes Owen Teague (It), Freya Allen (The witcher), AND Peter Macon (The Orville). The film’s screenplay comes from Josh Friedman (War of the Worlds), Rick Jaffa AND Amanda Silver (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), AND Patrick Aison (Prey).

He is also a co-star Travis Jeffrey (Uninterrupted), Neil Sandilands (Sweetness), Sara Wisemann (One of us is lying), Ras-Samuel Welda’abzgi (The clearing), Lydia Peckham (Cowboy bebop), AND Kevin Durand.
