Netflix is hiring Joe Tracz to serve as the new co-showrunner for its live-action A piece Season 2. Tracz recently worked on the Disney+ adaptation of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
Tracz will work alongside the co-showrunner, writer and executive producer Matt Owens in the show, on which it is based By Eiichiro Oda popular manga.
Steven Maedawho developed the series with Owens and served as co-showrunner on the first season, has stepped down as co-showrunner, but will continue to serve as the series’ executive producer.
Owens said in a statement: “Joe brings a wealth of enthusiasm and experience to our second season that will help us progress A piece to new heights. We are incredibly lucky to have him as a co-captain of this ship. The best crew on the seas gets bigger!”
Tracz added, “I have been fortunate to work on great adaptations of several beloved series, and there are no things bigger or more beloved than A piece.”
He continued: “I’m a huge fan of Oda-san’s incredible imagination and was blown away by what the live-action team created in season one. So it’s a dream and a joy to board the Going Merry as she enters the Grand Line for an even more gigantic second season.”
A piece follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy (Inaki Godoy) and his pirate crew as they explore a fantasy world of endless oceans and exotic islands in search of the world’s greatest treasure known as “One Piece” to become the next Pirate King.
