With Superman A few weeks after hitting theaters, James Gunn He is finally open the doors to the new DC universe. But if you expect shrypton and the last moments of the planet SupermanYou may want to cool your jets.
According to Gunn, the deepest emotional and visual dive in Krypton’s fall is probably saved Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
In a recent interview with Comicbook, Gunn has hinted that while Superman will not focus on the destruction of Kal-El’s Christmas world, the solo trip by Kara Zor-El is another story. Gunn said he saw Krypton’s flashback in Supergirl:
“This is always a possibility. But I think those things are really an integral part of the two characters and the differences between them, and that Clark really has a really happy sort of childhood.
“I mean, he had parents who loved him in an easy education, and this makes him the least dysfunctional of superheroes in so many ways. And Supergirl, in particular the DCU Supergirl, is a bit of a disaster.
“I mean, it is, he had real problems that grew up. And he is based on the comic in whom he looked at the person after the person after the person died in front of her while his piece of the planet disintegrated.”
That tonal change between Clark and Kara is what distinguishes these characters. Kal-El was a child when he left Krypton, he brings no memory of his people or his culture. Kara, on the other hand, lived there.
Remember the destruction, the trauma and the slow to reveal its world, and if Gunn and the DCU are attacking near Tom King Supergirl: Woman of TomorrowThey seem to bring all that pain to the movie.
Supergirl’s connection to Krypton defines how it moves in the world. Clark could be the optimistic heart of the DCU, but Kara? He has scars. Emotional scars, planetary level.
Gunn’s Superman Movie, what a star David Corenswet Like Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan like Lois Lane, e Nicholas Hault Like Lex Luthor, it opens on July 11th. It is the official launch for the DCU, but it is clear that the largest construction of the world will extend well beyond this film.
Supergirl: Tormow womandirected by Craig Gillespie (Cruella, I, Tonya) and interpreted Dragon house’S Milly AlcockIt will open on June 26, 2026.
So if you want to see a new interpretation of Krypton, its cities, its collapse, its emotional weight, you will probably find that story in Supergirl.
