Zack Snyder teases his next surprise film project by saying he doesn’t want it to be a ‘visual effects extravaganza’

Zack Snyder played in his own sci-fi universe Rebel moon for several years, but after Rebel Moon: The Scargiver is released, he’s looking to do something very different with his next project.

The director has spoken in the past about several possible film projects he’d like to make, including his King Arthur project, a more grounded film called Latitudes of the horse which is a micro-budget film about a photographer and a soldier in South America, and that’s about it 300: Blood and ashes project he talked about.

While speaking with Games Radar, Snyder talked about what he might say about his next film project: “Illusions it’s also one of those films,” referring to an adaptation of Richard Bach’s novel Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah.

He then said that his next film will be a surprise and that he wants to do something that isn’t a visual effects extravaganza: “It might be one of those, I don’t want to say exactly, because it will be a bit of a surprise. I really wanted to do something that wasn’t a visual effects extravaganza, just because I’d just like to do something a little down to earth.”

He continued: “Latitudes of the horse it’s a perfect example of that, it’s much more like a movie we can make. I know it sounds like, ‘Isn’t that how every movie is?’ But a film like this [Rebel Moon], there is nothing free. There is nothing to film unless you build it. So it would be nice not to have to do that.”

I’d actually like to see Snyder make a more grounded film, something that relies on the strength of story rather than big epic visual effects.

It will be interesting to see what Snyder chooses to do as his next film project. Which of these films would you like to see Snyder star in next?
