This detail at Interstellar was not noticed for 11 years – and it makes the film many times better

From the moment of the ‘interstellar’ of Christopher Nolan, 11 years have passed, but the audience continues to find hidden details in it that change the perception of the image. One is almost invisible, but extremely gloomy: in the film there is no wild nature at all.

What the audience noticed exactly

The Reddit user under the nickname PMW1981 noted that there is no animal in Interstellar. Neither in the frame nor behind the scenes do we see:

• cattle or other homemade living beings,
• eggs, dairy products or dishes with it,
• Pets,
• insects or birds.

Even on the farm of the protagonist Cooper (Matthew McConahi) there are no sounds known in rural areas and animals that flash in the frame. Neither the buzz of Vliegen nor the chirping of birds, not a single mosquito-no-m.

Why is it so important for history

The absence of the animal world is not just an artistic technique. It emphasizes the catastrophic state of the earth. In the world of Interstellar, all living things destroyed the plague of plants, so that corn left the only viable culture.

Director Christopher Nolan does not express this fact directly. The characters are already used to the gloomy reality, so for them the absence of cows, dogs or even flying is the norm. This beam can unknowingly strengthen the fear and feeling of the end of the viewer.

One fan theory sounds especially gloomy: in the circumstances of hunger people probably simply ate the remaining animals, including domestic cats and dogs.

This thought does not sound in the film, but is organically woven into his hopeless atmosphere.

The earth in the “interstellar” is shown on the edge of the death of humanity and, as it is now clear, without any other life. This makes the mission of the Cooper, the brand (Anne Hathaway) and the rest are not only important, but also the only chance of survival. In fact, there will in fact not be back anywhere.
