George Lucas’ Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace will return to theaters for the film’s 25th anniversary in May.
This is pretty exciting for fans who grew up watching this movie. While many Star Wars fans don’t care about the prequel trilogy, there are many fans who love them!
I remember being so damn excited for this movie when it came out in the summer of 1999. I remember waiting in line with my friends to watch the movie. I remember cheering in theaters when the movie opened with John Williams music and the opening crawl!
Then, I remember walking out of the theater and we thought, “What the hell was that?” However, over the years I have grown to appreciate this film more, especially after the chaos of Lucasfilm’s sequel trilogy.
I also love some aspects of the film, especially the battle between Darth Maul and Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon Jinn Duel of the Fates. This is exactly why I will go back to the cinema to see the film. Watching it on the big screen will be amazing!
The Phantom Menace sets the stage for the saga with a story of political intrigue and the rise of Darth Vader. The Galactic Republic is in turmoil as Trade Federation forces blockade the peaceful planet Naboo. Jedi Knights Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi are sent to negotiate, only to find themselves embroiled in a sinister plot orchestrated by the Sith Lord, Darth Sidious.
Along the way they meet young Anakin Skywalker, a slave with a strong connection to the Force. As they face treacherous alliances and confront the formidable Sith apprentice Darth Maul, the fate of the galaxy hangs in the balance, setting the stage for the epic conflict yet to come.
Movie stars Liam Neeson, Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Jake Lloyd, Ian McDiarmid, Antonio Daniels, Kenny Baker, Pernilla AugustAND Frank Oz.
The Phantom Menace will be released in theaters the weekend of May 4th starting Friday May 3rd. It will be in theaters for a limited time.
