Disney+ has released the first trailer for the upcoming film Jim Henson documentary Jim Henson, the man of ideaswhich comes from the director Ron Howard.
The heartfelt documentary lifts the curtain on Henson’s life by offering a glimpse into the life and career of the legendary puppeteer. Henson is known for creating the Muppets and bringing the characters to life Sesame Street, The dark crystalAND Labyrinth.
The documentary was made with the involvement of Henson’s family and contains interviews with him Rita Moreno, Labyrinth star Jennifer ConnellyHenson’s four children and his co-workers Frank Oz AND Michael Firth.
The film will include archival footage from throughout Henson’s life that we’ve never seen before, and the trailer is set to Kermit the Frog’s iconic 1979 song “Rainbow Connection.” The Muppet Movie.
The film “takes us into the mind of this singular creative visionary, from his early years as a puppeteer on local television to the worldwide success of Sesame Street, The Muppet Show and beyond.
“With new interviews with Henson’s closest associates and children, as well as never-before-seen materials from his personal archives – including film, photographs, sketches and diaries – Howard offers us a funny and insightful look at a man whose boundless imagination was changed the world.”
Howard said in a statement: “As the subject of a documentary, it immediately seemed incumbent upon me to try to infuse as much of Jim’s creative flavor, originality, energy, fun and creativity into the audience’s experience as I could.”
Henson died in 1990 at age 53, and his characters and projects have lived and prospered thanks to Disney, which purchased the rights to the Muppets characters from the Jim Henson Company in 2004.
Jim Henson, the man of ideas is produced by Imagine Documentaries and will be released on Disney+ on May 31st.
