Conflicting reports on Disney’s SNOW WHITE say the film is ‘fantastic’ and ‘a disaster’

There are two inside sources who have conflicting reports on what’s happening with Disney’s live-action Snow White movie.

I was expecting to see some footage of this movie at CinemaCon last week during Disney’s big presentation, but they didn’t show anything of the movie, and production has wrapped, even though it went through a lot of reshoots.

There was confusion about the film when some photos from the film’s set emerged featuring a group of full-sized actors in costume, leading some to speculate that the classic Seven Dwarfs had been replaced.

But later, Disney released an official photo of Snow White with the CGI dwarfs. According to the insider Daniele Richtmannthe character in the set photos will be a team of “bandits” assembled by Andrew Burnap’s character Jonathan, who replaces the prince in the story, and Snow White will still have her seven dwarf friends, but they won’t be called dwarfs.

Richtman also shared that Snow White will be depicted as “more independent and will lead a rebellion against the Wicked Witch.” He added that they will do “something different” with the poisoned apple thing in the story, but doesn’t elaborate on that.

As for the film’s quality, Richtman was told that test screenings went very well and that the film is “fantastic.”

But then EmpireCity Box Office stepped in to dispute that claim, saying, “I can actually refute this report @DanielRPK. As I said months ago that he was in trouble before they moved him back a year, he’s actually testing poorly and the people involved don’t have much hope about it. The film is a disaster and doesn’t work despite reshoots.”

I’ve heard the same thing from people I know who have knowledge of the film. It will be interesting to see what Dinsey ends up doing with this film.

The first image that was released did not receive much positive response. One thing that has been confirmed is that they took this “iconic thing” and turned the story into something completely different.

The star of the film, Rachel Zegler, previously said that Snow White will not be “saved by a prince,” who she calls a “stalker.” David Hand, whose father co-directed Walt Disney’s original 1937 film, finds the remake “offensive” and said his father and Walt Disney would be “turning in their graves”.

Disney spent a lot of money making this movie, and it’s said that the studio would need to gross at least $340 million to break even.

The story follows a princess who is rescued by seven dwarf miners, Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy and Sneezy, who make Snow White part of their family after she is exiled to a dangerous forest by her evil stepmother, played by Gal Gadot.

Zegler previously spoke about the film, saying, “This is an iconic thing that people really care about. I don’t want to ruin this for anyone, including myself. The writers and Marc Webb and our entire production team.”

He added: “The story is a little different. We managed to do “Whistle While You Work,” which made me really happy and excited. I was really nervous more about the technical element. The first-look image came out… and there’s a lot of CGI in the film.”

He continued, “Most of that day was spent singing in silence. I’m sure you know how it can be too. There was a lot of puppetry and CGI in post. It was really intense.

“There are a lot of mistakes where I throw a broom and let it fall to the ground, because apparently that’s how you throw things at CGI characters. But it’s so much fun!”

Snow White will be released in theaters on March 21, 2025.
