Carla Gugino reflects on being 27 and being a mom to an 11-year-old on SPY KIDS

Carla Gugino he began his career as a teenager in popular sitcoms of the 1980s Who’s the Boss, Good morning Miss Bliss, ALPHAAND The Wonder Years. She then starred in famous films such as Troop Beverly Hills, This boy’s lifeAND Son in law. When she became an adult, she had a recurring role in the series Rotation city AND Chicago Hopethen he started in Spy children movie franchise as the super spy mom of two who must step in and save her and her husband when they are captured.

Gugino loves her time in those films, but now she thinks back to the fact that she played a mother of two children, ages 11 and 9, and she herself was only 27, and it perplexes her. She the actress recently spoke to Deadline about being cast in the role and she said:

“It’s so funny because I was 27. It was a really beautiful double-edged sword because I love that movie so much. And the whole experience was incredible, and the films continue. I love Ingrid Cortes. But it was funny because I was at least 10 years too young for the role because I was a spy for 10 years and then somehow I had 9- and 11-year-old kids. So it was physically totally impossible.

At his meeting with the director Roberto Rodriguez, “She was like, ‘I feel like I’m looking for a mother for my kids.’ We were talking about it, I had auditioned for him and he said, ‘I think if we do our job well, no one will ever question it.’” Gugino added, “And it’s so funny, no one has.”

I don’t think these films were admired for their authenticity, but only for how entertaining they were. The main cast of the films included Gugino, Antonio Banderas, Alexa Pena Vega AND Daryl Sabarawho starred in the first three chapters of the series, then gave way to new characters with those of 2011 All the time in the world. The action series was rebooted with the Netflix film last year Spy Kids: Armageddon.

Gugino continued to star in major projects such as The Haunting of Hill House AND The Haunting of Bly Manoras well as Gunpowder milkshake, Lisa Frankensteinand currently stars in the political series Max The girls on the bus.
