The premiere date for the second season of VELMA has been announced

Mindy Kalingthe HBO animated series Velma was met with much reaction from Scooby-Doo fans. This was an underdeveloped and unfunny show, but for some reason HBO renewed it for a second season.

For those of you who enjoyed the series or plan to hate watch the next season, it will be released on April 25th. Executive Kaling produces the show and also provides the voice of the title character.

When it comes to season two, Susanna MakkosMax and Adult Swim’s executive vice president of original comedy and adult animation previously said, “The series we create at Max are driven by art and voice, with character and comedy coming before anything else “.

Which is funny because all comedy is flat. He added: “We’re always looking for tough comedy with heart and grit, diverse and inclusive performances with underlying thematic resonance and character designs that showcase the artist’s hand. I’m so excited to share these incredible series with the world and continue to show why Max is a great home for adult animation.”

When it comes to poorly executed projects, comments like this make me roll my eyes. The series only has a 39% approval rating among critics and a 7% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. So I’m not the only one who feels this way.

The problem is that the series has become the most watched premiere of an original animated show for Max. I don’t think they’ll see those numbers when the second season arrives.

The series tells the origin story of Velma Dinkley and the Mystery Inc. gang. But I will say that the series is definitely set in an alternate universe because there is nothing in this show that captures the spirit of the original Scooby-Doo gang. This show is just mean and there is nothing funny about it. It also has a 7% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Mindy Kaling she developed the series and also voices Velma, who she joined Constance Wu like Daphne, Sam Richardson like Shaggy and Glenn Howerton like Fred. Other cast members include Jane Lynch, Wanda Sykes, Russell Peters, Melissa Fumero, Stefano Radice, Gary Cole, Ken Leung, Cherry Jones, Frank Welker, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Luck Feimster, Yvonne Orji, Sarayu Blue, Nicole Byer, Ming-Na Wen, Shay Mitchell, Debbie Ryan, Kulap VilaysakAND City of Karl-Anthony.

Kaling also serves as executive producer along with Howard Klein and Sam Register.
