A first photo of the upcoming animated sequel has been released, Vaiana 2. The new photo arrived during Disney’s 2024 annual shareholder meeting. It features Moana setting sail on her boat with a familiar and determined look. It was announced earlier this year that the project, originally conceived as a Disney+ sequel series, would hit theaters in the form of a second film.
Auli’i Cravalho is officially returning to voice Moana, and she’s joining Dwayne Johnsonwho will return to voice Maui in the next chapter of their story. Alan Tudyk He will also return to voice the chicken, Hei Hei. The film will be directed by Dave Derrick Jr.with music from Abigail Barlow, Emily Bear, Opetaia Foa’iAND Marco Mancina.
The film’s initial synopsis reads:
After receiving an unexpected call from her explorer ancestors, Moana travels to the distant seas of Oceania and dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced.
