Russell Crowe’S The Pope’s exorcist it ended up being a really fun horror adventure film. I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. Not long after its release, there was talk of a sequel, but we haven’t heard much about it since it was initially reported.
Crowe has now revealed that the original plan was to create a trilogy of films following the supernatural adventures of Father Gabriele Amorth, and he believes things will pick up for the franchise soon. During an interview with The Six O’Clock Show, the actor stated:
“Well, that’s up for debate at the moment. The producers originally greenlit the studio for not just one sequel, but two. But there’s been a change of studio heads at the moment, so it’s going around in some circles But “Definitely, man. We created that character so you could take him out and put him in a lot of different circumstances. And remember, the man he’s based on, Gabriele Amorth, wrote 12 books. So we have more than enough” source material to make one or two more of those movies. But it probably won’t be until next year.”
The film is inspired by the real dossiers of Father Gabriele Amorth, author of two memoirs, An exorcist tells his story AND An Exorcist: Other Storieswhere he talked about his experiences fighting Satan and demons.
This first film follows Amorth as he investigates a boy’s terrifying possession and ends up uncovering a centuries-old conspiracy that the Vatican has been desperately trying to keep hidden. Although the movie is inspired by real events, but if you have seen it, you know that it embellished things a lot. Regardless, it provided good entertainment. The film also did a great job of establishing the franchise.
I hope we see more of these films!
