Disneyland’s classic attraction, Autopia, has been entertaining guests for 69 years and is finally getting a big update. Disney has announced that it will ditch gas-powered cars for electric cars, which makes perfect sense. I’m really surprised it took this long to do this!
Disneyland spokeswoman Jessica Good said in an interview with the Los Angeles Times: “Since Disneyland park opened in 1955, Autopia has remained a guest favorite, wildly popular among children experiencing ride-hailing. first time. As the industry shifts to alternative fuel sources, we have developed a roadmap to electrify this attraction and are evaluating technology that will allow us to convert gas engines in the coming years.”
I have to say, though… I’m really going to miss smelling those exhaust fumes while driving cars! This is one of those rides that I have enjoyed since I was a child, as it was my first time driving a car! I also enjoyed watching my kids drive cars while I pressed the accelerator and let them drive.
I know the journey won’t end, but there’s something nostalgic about the roar of the little petrol engines that we will miss. I have a feeling it will be a much smoother ride for drivers now!
Autopia is located in the Tomorrowland area near Space Mountain. It makes sense that Tomorrowland would have electric cars around.
There’s no specific timeline on when this will happen, or any other details, but plans are in place and it will happen eventually.
