In Sam RaimiIt’s the classic movie Spiderman, Kirsten Dunst AND Tobey Maguire delivered one of the most iconic cinematic kisses in cinematic history. Dunst recently spoke about the experience of filming that scene while a guest on the Jonathan Ross Show, and it turned out to be an unhappy experience for her.
She also revealed that before filming the scene, Raimi wanted to inspire her and gave her a book of famous kisses. She recalled:
“I remember [the film’s director] Sam Raimi gave me a book of famous kisses to draw inspiration from, but he also wanted to make it special, even if it was actually a little unfortunate to do so.
“It was pouring rain, it was cold, Tobey couldn’t breathe so it was almost like I was resuscitating him.”
Regardless of how miserable the experiences were, the scene looks great in the movie! They managed to pull it off and make it look good under uncomfortable circumstances. I just want to say I loved Dunst as MJ! She was perfect for this!
In a previous interview, Dunst talked about the nickname she was given on the set of the film, “Girly-Girl,” and how she hated it. “It was a joke, but let’s move on Spiderman, sometimes they called me “girly-girl” on the walkie-talkie. ‘We need girl-girls,’ but I never said anything. I mean, don’t call me that. You didn’t say anything. You just got it.”
If given the opportunity, though, Dunst would return to the role or any other comic book movie, “Because you get paid a lot of money, and I have two kids, and I support my mother.” He continued, “I would. Why not? It would be fun. At this point I’d be the old MJ with the little Spideys.”
