Marco Duplass is set to star next Elena Pompeo AND Imogen Faith Reid in Hulu’s upcoming thriller limited series Orphan. This series is inspired by the true story of Natalia Grace and the Midwestern couple who adopted her believing she was a child with dwarfism. It turns out she wasn’t who she said she was.
The series was written by Katie Robbins, who also serves as showrunner. Duplass will take on the role of Michael Barnett, husband of Pompeo’s Kristine Barnett and Natalia’s adoptive father.Faith Reid).
In 2019, “Michael, an optimistic Midwestern dad and retail manager, was accused, along with his ex-wife Kristine, of neglect and abandonment of their daughter Natalia, whom they adopted in 2010. Already in the public eye thanks to Kristine’s bestselling book The spark– about raising their son Jacob, a science prodigy – Michael’s world begins to crumble as he and Kristine are forced to defend the stories they made up about Natalia in the courts and in the public eye.
The story will be told from multiple points of view to reflect the conflicting narratives of its central characters.
