The new Street house the remake ended up being a fun movie, but it definitely wasn’t a perfect movie. Director Doug Liman he said this is his best film, but I’m not so sure. He made better films!
Conor McGregor he plays the crazy villain in the film, and he’s amazingly ridiculous. He overdoes it so much in the way he struts and talks straight. Well, it turns out that during the fight scenes in the film, McGregor instinctively kept trying to actually punch Jake Gyllenhaal in face.
So, Gyllenhaal and McGregor had to come up with a routine before shooting each take so that McGregor would remember not to hit him. While a guest on the Smartless podcast, Gyllenhaal said McGregor was “amazing” and credited him with coaching him during the fight scenes. He continued by recalling:
“Every time, we had to tell Conor, they’d say, ‘We’re going, OK, Sharpie,’ and then I would say, I should say, even two months into filming — ‘Remember, don’t hit me in the face. I mean, remember that. ” And he’d say, ‘Oh yeah, right right right.’ It was like this every time, before every take.
I wonder how many times Gyllenhaal got punched in the face until they started doing it! It’s pretty funny that Gyllenhaal had to go through that routine with the fighter months after filming began. I get it, though! I wouldn’t want to be punched by McGregor either!
