Legendary skateboarder Tony Falco is teaming up with Laughing Dragon Studios to bring kids a new short animated series titled Skatebirds. The show is aimed at children aged 6 to 11, and its name is inspired by Hawk’s “Birdman” nickname. Its aim will be to “celebrate the playful skateboarding community by highlighting its adventurous nature”, say the producers.
Skatebirds will revolve around “a group of young skateboard enthusiasts, who happen to be birds, who come together to support their hometown and show the world that when they put their feathers together, they can do anything they put their mind to.”
The series will focus on teamwork, friendship and community, some of the elements of the skateboarding community that Hawk’s exploits have helped foster. Hawk previously created The Skatepark Project, which helps fund public skateparks in the United States and other parts of the world
Episodes of Skateboard will last 11 minutes and is also expected to expand into shorter formats for platforms such as TikTok and YouTube.
