Brian Cox will be the voice of Santa Claus in the new Netflix Christmas film THAT CHRISTMAS

Brian Cox has been cast in Netflix’s new upcoming animated film project That Christmas, and will provide the voice of Santa Claus. Cox has the perfect voice for Santa, so he’ll be great!

This Christmas is an adaptation of the children’s book series by the BAFTA-winning and Oscar-nominated writer and director Richard Curtis (Four weddings and a funeral, Notting Hill). The description of the book reads: “Christmas is the same every year, isn’t it? Same food, same routine, same visit to neighbors and same walk. Except for the year of That Christmas… Find out what happens when traditions are overturned, when chaos reigns, and what’s truly important when people come together…”

The film is directed by Simone Ottone (Love, death and robots, How to train your dragon), and was developed by Locksmith Animation (Ron was wrong).

The film project is also the protagonist Alongside Cox, Fiona Shaw, Jodie Whittaker AND Bill Nighy as the inhabitants of an enchanting seaside town where things turn upside down one Christmas. Other voice stars include Lolly Adefope, Alex Macqueen, Catherine Parkinson, Sindhu Vee, Indian brown, Zazie Hayhurst, Siena Sayer, Jack Wisniewski, Rosie Knight, Paul Kaye, Guz Khan, Andy Nyman, Kuhu Agarwal, Bronte Smith, Freddie Spry, Avva Talbot AND Rhys Darby.

Otto said in a statement: “Becoming an animator has been on my Christmas wish list since I was a child and watching animated films was one of the biggest Christmas traditions in my family. But I never could have imagined that one day I would have the chance to direct a Christmas movie written by the one and only Richard Curtis and collaborate with some of the most iconic voice actors. Watching this cast bring these heartwarming and funny stories to life and infuse them with the magic of animation is truly a dream come true. I hope “That Christmas” becomes a cherished tradition for audiences around the world.”

Curtis added: “This was the most amazing adventure, my first animated film. It was especially thrilling to see the entire world I imagined come to life beyond my wildest dreams – and populated by a dream group of actors, their wonderful voices transformed into such rich and entertaining characters.”

This should be a fun Christmas movie!
