Tron: Ares director Joachim Rønning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Kon Tiki) shared a new photo from the set of the film, which is currently filming. The photo teases some interesting new details.
The photo was shared on Rønning’s Instagram story, containing the script and a small prop. The prop is a convention pass for an Encom event tied to a piece of franchise lore. Check it out:
This is a pass for Paranoia-Con 27, which confirms that the story will be set in 2027. But there is another detail, the name of the convention is Paranoia-Con, which is obviously linked to Space paranoids, the video game originally created by Kevin Flynn. It seems like gaming has become a big deal!
I know these are just small details, but I’m really curious about this movie and how the story will develop.
The film is the protagonist Jared Leto and follows a highly sophisticated program, Ares, “which is sent from the digital world to the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humanity’s first encounter with AI beings.”
The film is also the protagonist Cameron Monaghan (Star Wars Jedi), Evan Peters (WandaVision), Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith (Without remorse), Greta Lee, Hasan Minhaj, Arturo CastroAND Gillian Anderson.
Jesse Wigutow AND Jack Thorne wrote the screenplay. The film is scheduled for release in 2025.
