Well, the original creators of the series plan to bring these little monsters back for a whole new trilogy of films!

According to Bloody-Disgusting, director and co-writer Luca Bercovici and producer and co-writer Jefery Levy have claimed domestic rights to their 1984 cult film. Their plan is to “develop a new film trilogy for a new generation.”

The first two scripts are already complete and the third is halfway there. writer and producer Theo Lemaster he said, “We’re buying it now and hope to shoot in late summer/early fall.”

The press release offers further details, saying: “Drawing on their unrivaled experience and unwavering passion, Levy, Bercovici and Theo Lemasters are ready to unveil a slate of projects that will keep audiences reveling in dirty horror fun for many years to come.”

It was also revealed that the creative team is “expanding the Ghoulies universe beyond the big screen with a book series that will immerse readers into the darkest depths of the Ghoulies universe. Fans can’t wait to bring home a piece of the Ghoulies universe with an exclusive line of figures, apparel and collectibles for every devotee of the delightfully demonic Ghoulies.”

So, they are planning to go all out with this one Ghoulies rebirth! I remember the first movie being fun, but I don’t remember any sequels. It could be a lot of fun if done right. It’s nice to know that the original creators are involved in the project.
