Netflix’s BLACK MIRROR returns to the fan-favorite setting of USS Callister in season 7

Netflix’s Black mirror is returning for season seven. The sixth season aired last summer, after the series had been missing for several years. Not only will we get another season, but it’s been announced that the show will return to the USS Callister, the setting of one of its most popular episodes.

Netflix has confirmed season 7 of Charlie Brooker AND Annabel Jones’ anthology today and delivered a teaser that will delight fans. It was revealed at Netflix’s See What’s Next event in London: “The USS Callister will return… Robert Daly is dead, but for the crew of the USS Callister the problems are only just beginning.”

USS Callister was the first episode of the fourth season of Black mirror – the second on Netflix – and starred Jesse Plemons, Cristin Milioti, Jimmi Simpson and Michaela Coel.

The Emmy-winning film was written by Brooker and directed by Todd Haynes and follows Daly (Plemons), a reclusive but gifted programmer and co-founder of a popular massively multiplayer online game, bitter over the lack of recognition of his position by his colleagues. Telling a story that evoked themes of fragile masculinity and the dangers of technology, Daly vents his frustrations by simulating a Star Trek-as an in-game space adventure, using the DNA of his colleagues to create sentient digital clones of them, with terrifying consequences.

No further details have arrived about the Callister’s return, but Netflix said Brooker will create the latest one Black mirror series and EP with Jones and Jessica Rhoades. Brooker and Jones’ Broke & Bones company continues to produce and Banijay Rights is distributing.

You can’t wait for the seventh season of Black mirror?
