Zooey Deschanel (500 days of summer, Elf, New girl) has signed on to star in the romantic comedy Merv at Amazon MGM Studios.
Written by Linsey Stewart (Working mothers, Suze) AND Danish Clark (Mr D, Suze), and directed by Jessica Swale (Summer Land), the film (Merv is a working title) follows an estranged couple who discover the dog they share is suffering from depression following their breakup, awkwardly reconciling over the holidays when they take their dog on a sunny getaway to Florida to lift his spirits.
Deschanel was recently seen on the series Physicistthe animated sequel The Trolls uniteand this August he will appear in the adaptation of the beloved children’s book, Harold and the Purple Crayon.
