Neve Campbell has confirmed that he will officially return as Sidney Prescott for the next film developed in the Scream series. He also announced it He shouted franchise creator and writer Kevin Williamson will direct the next chapter of the franchise! This is exciting news for He shouted fans! He shared a photo of the script along with a note that reads:
Hi everyone. I am so excited to announce this news!!! Sidney Prescott is coming back!!!! It’s always been a blast and an honor to play Sidney in the Scream films. My appreciation for these films and what they meant to me has never wavered. I am very happy and proud to say that I have been asked, in the most respectful way, to bring Sidney back to the screen and I couldn’t be more thrilled!!! Well, actually I could. While I was incredibly fortunate to make these films with both horror master Wes Craven and the talented team of Matt and Tyler, I have dreamed for many years about how amazing it would be to make one of these films with Kevin. Williamson at the helm. And now it’s happening, Kevin Williamson is directing Scream 7! This was his child and it is his brilliant mind that dreamed of this world. Kevin is not only an inspiration as an artist, but he has been a dear friend for many years. To the amazing Scream fans, I hope you are as excited as I am. See you on set @kevwilliamson
The screenplay by Screams 7 is written by Guy Busick, from a story he created with James Vanderbilt, which he will continue to produce Screams 7.
It was previously reported that producers were looking to bring Campbell back Melissa Barrara was fired from Spyglass for comments she made on social media about the Israel-Hamas conflict. Jenna Ortega also ended up withdrawing due to “scheduling conflicts” with Wednesday Season 2.
Williamson will later take over as director Christopher Landon he walked out of the film due to all the issues and drama that was going on behind the scenes. His vision of the film completely fell apart.
When previously speaking about Campbell’s return to the franchise, Williamson shared his support by saying: “I know her well. I love her and adore her, and that’s what he made of her, and that’s great for her. I love everyone involved with Scream and all I can say is pay her money. Yes, you heard it, everyone. This is what I would do. I would give it to him.
And that’s exactly what he did to bring her back on board the franchise!
