Denis Villeneuve gave a dying fan the chance to watch DUNE: PART TWO before the premiere

Director Denis Villeneuve gave a dying fan the opportunity to watch Duna: second part before he died. The Washington Post spoke with L’Avant, a Canadian charity, and its founder Josée Gagnon. They contacted Villeneuve, the director who heard about the man’s plight in a Facebook post.

The director was moved by the man’s story and asked an assistant to quickly send him the laptop so he could watch the film. The saddest thing is that the man, who was not named, died before he could finish the entire film. He only managed to get halfway.

Gagnon, who was not allowed to share this story until after the film’s release, said: “I said, ‘You don’t understand, it’s extraordinary what this man has been through. The ending of a movie, when you’re to die, it means nothing… All this existed for him.”

He went on to say that not seeing the ending “didn’t matter” and shared that the individual had “a very difficult start in life.” Seeing people gather around his dying wish was more than enough for that man. Gagnon would write that this message was “worth all the gold in the world”.

This is one of those heartfelt stories that gives you faith in humanity. It shows that people step up to help in difficult situations to help someone in need.
