David Thewlis (Harry Potter franchising, Fargo, I’m thinking about ending things, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, The Sandman, Human resources) has signed on to star in an upcoming CW mystery drama titled Sherlock and his daughter.
Starring Thewlis as Sherlock Holmes, the series puts the detective out of his comfort zone, mysteriously unable to investigate a sinister case without risking the lives of his closest friends. He then meets Amelia (Blue Fighter), an American who, after the mysterious murder of her mother, discovers that Sherlock could be her missing father. Despite vastly different backgrounds and attitudes, the pair must work together to solve a global conspiracy, solve the murder of her mother, and find out for sure whether she is truly Sherlock’s daughter. The cast also includes Dougray Scott as Holmes’ nemesis Moriarty.
Brendan Foley created Sherlock and his daughter while James Duff goes on the air.
The news came during the CW’s presentation at the Television Critics Association’s Winter 2024 press tour, where the network also announced series orders for new television shows based on Trivial Pursuit AND Scarab.
Preview dates for the network’s spring schedule were also announced at TCA. The CW will make its debut All Americans Also the sixth season FBoy Island spinoff Lovers and Liars on April 1; Walker Season 4 and new drama series Invisible to sight on April 3; new unscripted series Patti Stanger: The matchmaker April 11; 100 Days in Indy Season 2 on April 26; and new unscripted series Police 24/7 AND Hostage rescue on April 30th.
