Oscar-winning actor Will Smith (The pursuit of happiness, King Richard) has signed on to star in the upcoming action thriller, Sugar bandits. Based on Chuck Hogan’s book “Devils in Exile,” the thriller centers on an Iraq War veteran who teams up with a group of fellow veterans to target drug trafficking in Boston. Hogan, whose writing credits include “The Town” and “The Strain” (which he co-wrote with Guillermo del Toro), wrote the screenplay.
Smith’s upcoming projects include the untitled fourth film “Bad Boys,” which is still in production, along with the upcoming sequel to Zombie’s hit “I Am Legend,” which will co-star Michael B. Jordan and see Smith reprising his role from the 2007 original (but uses the alternate ending scene in the DVD where the character lives).
