Apple TV+ has released a pair of first look photos featuring Michael Douglas as Benjamin Franklin in the upcoming historical drama series Franklin. Douglas is producing the series, based on the book “A Great Improvisation: Franklin, France, and the Birth of America,” by Pulitzer Prize winner Stacy Schiff. The series tells Franklin’s story as the first United States ambassador to France and the events leading up to the Treaty of Paris in 1783, which ended the American Revolutionary War.

Franklin explores the “thrilling story of the biggest gamble of Benjamin Franklin’s career. In December 1776, Franklin is world-famous for his electrical experiments, but his passion and power are put to the test when, with the fate of American independence hanging in the balance, he embarks on a secret mission. in France.
