Netflix has released the first trailer for Gillian Andersonit’s the new movie News in advancewhich is a dramatization of the infamous Prince Andrew Newsnight interview.
The film is inspired by true events and tells “the inside account of the tenacious journalism that obtained a shocking interview: that of Prince Andrew (played by Rufus Sewell) infamous BBC Newsnight appearance. From the tension of producer Sam McAlister (played by Billie Piper) high-stakes negotiations with Buckingham Palace, leading to the forensic confrontation between Emily Maitlis (played by Gillian Anderson) and the Prince.”
The film takes viewers “inside the story, with the women who would stop at nothing to get it.” Maitlis’ interview led to the prince being humiliated and he had since settled a sexual assault case brought against him by Jeffrey Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre.
The film was directed by Philip Martino (The crown) and will be released on Netflix on April 5, 2024.
