Landmark takes control of Laemmle Theaters’ Pasadena Playhouse 7

Landmark Theaters entered into a long-term lease for Playhouse 7 in Pasadena, California, previously operated by Laemmle Theaters on February 5, 1999.

Family Art Homes Network built the site at 673 E. Colorado Blvd. from the ground up. The multiplex consists of seven screens and 1,300 seats. The summer opening is scheduled.

Landmark will upgrade the Playhouse’s projection and sound systems and will complete a location upgrade plus expensive seating in the coming months after opening.

“The acquisition of Playhouse is important to Landmark because we can continue the tradition of showing quality films in the Pasadena film community. “This theater has a profound history that we look forward to honoring and building for years to come,” said Kevin Holloway, president of Landmark.

“It is extremely rewarding to be able to continue serving the community with Arthouse Theater. “We have invested in supporting the arts in the Pasadena Playhouse Village area,” said Arash Danialipar.

New perks include gourmet and healthy food, along with traditional movie favorites like Orville Redenbacher popcorn and real butter. Beer and wine will still be available, complete with spirits.

Landmark Theaters’ new opening this summer includes a nine-screen complex at Annapolis Harbor Center in Maryland and another 1,800-seat ten-screen cinema in Glenview, a suburb of Chicago, Illinois, with more locations to be announced.

The negotiations with GD Realty for the theater are led by Michael Fant, EVP Landmark Theaters.
