Zac Efron will play a dual role in director Jody Hill’s adaptation of celebrity thriller FAMOUS

Zac Efron (17 again, Iron claw) has signed on for his next film, a celebrity-centric thriller titled Famous, in which he will take on two roles. Efron will star in a dual role, playing both overzealous fan Lance Dunkquist and Hollywood heartthrob James Jansen. The film, directed by Jody Hillis based on the acclaimed novel by the New York Times bestselling author Blake Crouch and is adapted for the screen by Chad Hodgewho also adapted Crouch’s Rebel pines trilogy in a series. Esmail will produce alongside his producing partner Chad Hamilton through their Esmail Corp. banner.

The story follows Lance Dunkquist, who has an asset that is about to change his life: he has the face of a movie star. And not just any movie star: Lance is the spitting image of Hollywood icon, James Jansen. Lance is about to travel to Los Angeles to make his dream come true. Lance is going to be famous, no matter what the cost.

As Efron prepares for this double-dimensional role, you’ll be able to watch him come together Pete Farrelly about Amazon Studios’ upcoming comedy Ricky Stanicky which will bow next month. He follows it up with the Netflix comedy A family affair, who is also the protagonist Nicole Kidman AND Joey King and will be released later this year on the streamer.
