COYOTE VS. ACME will never see the light of day as WB has rejected offers from other studios to purchase it

After Warner Bros. Scrapped the Complete Looney Tunes Movie Coyotes vs. Acme for no reason, it was reported that it would be sold to other studios. Well, The Wrap reports that WB has rejected offers from other studios to purchase the film, which is crazy to me.

Netflix, Amazon and Paramount submitted “attractive offers” for the film, but WB wanted at least $75 million and did not allow any counteroffers. It was explained that it was a “take it or leave it” situation. “One that the other studios didn’t even know they were getting into.”

The report also notes that the studio may attempt to quietly cancel the film. “A source close to the film doesn’t believe Warner Bros. has even announced that they haven’t found a location for the film. They would cancel it without much ceremony. Never to be seen again.”

So there’s a possibility that this movie will cease to exist and never see the light of day, which is pretty damn disheartening. Furthermore, CEO David Zaslav hasn’t even seen the film!

The decision to scrap Coyotes vs. Acme was crafted by the CEOs and co-presidents of Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group Michele De Luca AND Pam Abdypresident of Warner Bros. Pictures Animation Bill Damaschkeand Zaslav. This was done for a $35 million tax write-off.

De Luca and Abdy only saw a “director’s cut” of the film and Damaschke saw a “first preview for the public”.

It’s a shame that Warner Bros. is run by these ridiculous people. It is explained that Warner Bros. Discovery has a fourth quarter earnings meeting scheduled for February 23, 2023. If Warner Bros. has not sold the film to another distributor by then, the filmmakers behind Coyotes vs. Acme they believe the film will be dead and “silenced by a movie studio’s balance sheet.”

After Warner Bros. shelved the film, the studio received some backlash against that decision, and WB was labeled an “anti-art studio.” Bauza at one point seemed confident in this Coyotes vs. Acme will find a new home and be released in 2024 and posted a photo with a caption that said, “See you in 2024!!”

Several directors have seen the film and they all had nothing but great things to say about it! You can read their reactions here. Actor Paolo Scheer She said: “Coyotes vs. Acme it might be the best big screen version of the Looney Tunes ever. @dgreenmachine and samyburch did it. She has jokes, she has heart and she has Will Forte. Don’t miss it (the deep pulls with cartoon cameos are also A+).” Chris Miller he said, “I saw COYOTE AGAINST ACME and it’s delicious. Funny, charming, good physical comedic timing, with a surprising amount of heart. I hope several studios follow this so the world can see all the good work people do.

The film was directed by Dave Greenfrom a screenplay by Samy Burch and a story of James Gunn, Jeremy Slater and Burch. The story was partially inspired by an article by The New Yorkerwhich was written by Ian Frazier in 1990 and John Cena stars in the film as the CEO of Acme.

Will Forte We previously talked about how much fun it was to make the film and also shared some details about the story, saying:

“I mean, it was so fun to make. It came out of an article that I think is decades old. Wiley Coyote sued the Acme Corporation because of all the different contraptions exploding in his face, and stuff like that. And so, I get to play Wile E. Coyote’s lawyer, and it’s a mixture of animation, and it’s like a Who Framed Roger Rabbit-style movie. And yeah, John Cena is great. There’s Lana Condor. It’s It was so much fun making it and these guys who are making it are so smart. Because you have to figure out where this animated character is going to go. It was great to be a part of. So, I’m excited to see how it turns out because, obviously, I act a lot. with a tennis ball. There’s a tennis ball for the eye line and it moves. So, yeah, I think I don’t know. I don’t know how much more I can say about that, but I kept babbling on for a while .”

I don’t know how any director would want to continue working with WB after these types of business practices.
