Kate Hudson will star and executive produce Mindy Kalingthe untitled basketball comedy series on Netflix. The series is a workplace comedy inspired by the front office of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Kaling is co-writing the series with other Mindy Project alumni Ike Barinholtz AND David Stassenand Stassen will serve as showrunner.
In the series, “The only sister in a family of competitive siblings, Isla Gordon (Hudson) has been overlooked and underestimated her entire life. But when a scandal forces her brother to resign, Isla is unexpectedly named president of the Los Angeles Waves, one of the most legendary professional basketball franchises, and of the family business. Ambitious, Isla finally has the chance to prove to her skeptical brothers, the board of directors and the broader sports community that she was the right choice for the job, especially in the unpredictable, male-dominated world of sports.
The first season will consist of ten episodes and is produced by the President and Governor of the Lakers Jeanie Buss and that of the team Linda Rambis next to that of the Lakers Giordano Rambis.
It should be an interesting show and a great project for Hudson.
