Geraldine Viswanathan (Blockers, Miracle workers, Dolls to remove) has joined the cast of Marvel ‘s Lightningtaking the place of The bear actress Ayo Edebiri, which had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts after production was delayed due to last year’s WGA and SAG AFTRA double strikes. Viswanathan is the second recent addition after the addition of the film Lewis Pullmann intervene for Steven Yeundeparted for similar scheduling reasons to those of Edebiri.
Viswanathan joins an ensemble announced during Disney’s D23 event last year that includes Florence Pugh in the role of Yelena Belova, Sebastiano Stan as the Winter Soldier, Davide Porto in the role of the Red Guardian, Julia Louis-Dreyfus like Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Wyatt Russell as a US agent, Hannah John-Kamen like Ghost and Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster.
Jake Schreier is set to direct the new film. Not much is known about the plot yet, but in the comics the story revolves around a group of villains sent on missions commissioned by the government. The film is scheduled for release in July 2025.
